Hello Friends of Vocal Summit, and welcome to the New Year!

We’ve been up to a lot in the last year!

In 2023, we joined over 1000 singers, representing 30 of the 800+ choruses in the world, to sing at the 2023 Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) International Chorus Competition in Louisville, KY. We came out for our first international competition to introduce ourselves to the society, and we are honored to have received 10th place in the world! Our sibling chorus PDX Voices placed 15th, bringing two choruses from our district into the top 20. Portland barbershop has never been more vibrant, and we’re certainly making a name for ourselves in the BHS.

Though we’re taking 2024 off from competing on the international stage, we have a lot of fun things planned! Some of these include a recording project, putting on a show with International Champions, Quorum, and a community choir festival to expand our reach within our community. As in 2023, we will most certainly get the chance to work with top-quality coaches from across the nation to help us all become better singers, and we’ll absolutely be singing a variety of the best that barbershop and contemporary choral music have to offer – including arrangements written just for us by greats like Aaron Dale, Clay Hine, and our director, Justin Miller. Vocal Summit will continue to work to build a supportive brotherhood and community, hosting family-friendly events where we can generate goodwill, build real friendships, and create music together. This includes plans to enter the competition cycle in the fall to earn the right to represent the Northwest in International Competition held in Denver in 2025.

So come on out to sing a song, ring a chord and celebrate the joy that is harmony!
